Greg Freeman — Founder & Principal

Greg founded Proactix Cybersecurity with a singular conviction: that businesses — especially those in healthcare — deserve a cybersecurity partner with real-world, specialized expertise, not a generalist's best effort. With more than 30 years of experience in information technology, he brings a depth of knowledge to every client engagement that simply cannot be replicated by a general IT provider.

Healthcare IT — From the Inside

Greg spent nearly two decades at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), one of the state's largest and most complex healthcare institutions. During his tenure, he worked extensively in IT security — conducting authorized penetration testing, managing compliance initiatives, and developing the kind of deep institutional knowledge of healthcare systems that simply cannot be acquired in a classroom or from a vendor certification. He understands how clinical environments operate, what makes healthcare data so uniquely sensitive, and exactly where the gaps in security tend to appear.

That experience is directly reflected in the services Proactix delivers. When we conduct a HIPAA risk assessment or a penetration test for a healthcare client, we do it with the perspective of someone who has operated inside a major academic medical center — not just someone who has read the regulation.

Prior to his work at UAMS, Greg served in IT roles with the State of Arkansas, gaining valuable experience in large-scale government technology environments where data integrity, regulatory compliance, and system reliability are paramount. That background instilled a disciplined, process-oriented approach to security that continues to shape how Proactix operates today.

Greg's expertise isn't limited to the technical side of cybersecurity. He also brings 10 years of experience as a business consultant, giving him an uncommon ability to translate complex security concepts into clear, actionable strategies that align with business objectives.
